I know this book is fairly popular and a lot of people have already read it. It kinda feels like I’m reviewing the Wingfeather Saga or the Green Ember — both series’ that plenty of Christian kids have read. Still, I’ll throw it out there. This series is nice and clean, well-written, highly creative, and unpredictable. And I maintain my opinion that the book is always better than the movie/TV series.
“Are you a gifted child looking for special opportunities?” Dozens of children respond to this peculiar newspaper ad and are then put through a series of mind-bending tests, which readers take along with them. Only four children—two boys and two girls—succeed. Their challenge: to go on a secret mission that only the most intelligent and inventive children could complete. To accomplish it, they will have to go undercover at the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened, where the only rule is that there are no rules. But what they’ll find in the hidden underground tunnels of the school is more than your average school supplies. So, if you’re gifted, creative, or happen to know Morse Code, they could probably use your help.

There was no language, what little violence there was was non-graphic and non-gory, and the story was mysterious and compelling right from the start. There are in total five books relating to the members of the Mysterious Benedict Society, and Trenton Lee Stewart has also written The Secret Keepers, a standalone that’s equally interesting and enjoyable. I highly recommend them all for middle grade kids who like riddles and mysteries.
Any mysteries to recommend? Any books you’d like me to review? Want to nerd out about books we’ve both read? Leave a comment below!
Have a great week, guys! Cheers!

I’d love to hear your honest opinion of my book, Ichabod Fly and the Great Newspaper Roundup. It’s a kids fantasy that’s just a light, goofy read. 😊
Hey Bree! That sounds like a fun book — however, I don’t take requests for review materials, but thanks for asking!
That’s fine. Just thought I’d give a review suggestion, though I didn’t realize you meant only ones that were written by someone else 😆 I’ll gladly nerd over the Wingfeather Saga with you… I ADORE the illustrations. Are you an illustrations type of person or no?
I understand, sorry for not making that clearer. But if everyone tried to recommend their own books, it could lead to some awkward situations. I like the illustrations too! They’re really cool. I like illustrations, but only if they’re relatively close to how I imagine the characters. It’s weird when they depict them as completely different, isn’t it?
