LotR, Politics, and a Dose of Common Sense

Ok — you’re allowed to read fantasy, no matter your political standing. It isn’t really an ‘issue’ that conservative leaders like LotR. The left is just making it one. And you know what, if LotR is now something only crazy right-wingers can like, whatever. Cool by me. The left is missing out.

But, humor aside, this discussion that has broken out is frankly downright silly. I know, strictly speaking, I’m a bit late to this issue, but I only just discovered this article, which sums it up and straightens it out the best I’ve seen. It’s such a ridiculous fallacy that if your enemy likes something, everyone else who likes that something is now under consideration as another enemy. It’s a bit of a post hoc ergo propter hoc — or correlation is not causation. Biden likes ice cream — so do I, but it doesn’t mean we have the same political position, or religious, or anything else. LotR is not the reason people swing politically right. Give it a read today!
